Does therapist engage in politics when working with a client? In this article, the question is examined using five examples: positioning vis-à-vis the family institution, taking social inequalities into account, the integration of research on gender relations, the relationship between desire for personal achievement and ethical standards, and the role of individual internal or external factors in understanding life. The author claims that policy is present at the very heart of therapeutic work and the civic responsibility of the therapist is inevitably engaged.
