On 25?June 1950, the armies of North Korea invade South Korea. The United Nations appeals to Member States to come to the assistance of the South. The United States agrees and assumes command of military operations. US legislative measures then lead to a large increase in both manpower and mat?riel. In one year, with the support of a powerful industry, the American armed forces are powerful enough to engage not only in a conflict limited to Korea but also in a conflict waged worldwide.
