<br/><br/> The topic of “indigenous peoples” is becoming increasingly important in a world that is ever more concerned about the natural environment. The situation in the Amazon is emblematic in this regard, owing to the attitude of the Brazilian president. United Nations bodies recognize the specific rights of these peoples, but many countries have not ratified the relevant conventions. France’s position remains very timid, owing to its difficulty in recognizing the particular characteristics of these populations.
