Long before the space age, some authors had thought about flying over the earth. Lucien Samosate, Johann Kepler, Francis Godwin, Cyrano de Bergerac had described imaginary cosmic travels from which men could observe the earth, before Edgar Allan Poe, Herbert George Wells, Jules Verne, Konstantin Edouardovitch Tsiolkovski, Alexis Tolstoļ or Hermann Oberth were able to imagine space observation of our planet.
