Globalization through the filter of translation

When applied to the linguistic side of globalization, the «gravitational model» approach and the study of translation flows show that there is a «language market» in which some languages rank very high whereas others are devalued. Two case studies (Arabic science and Chinese as a source and target language) give us a better understanding of how this language market works. And a recent trend in the way source languages are now being called seems to indicate that supercentral languages are prone to break up, thus leading to further dialectization.
