In education, the theme of sustainable development is global, systemic, and cuts across divisions between scientific disciplines. In documentary activities, it does not fit easily into the logic of classification that allows documents to be located within closed fields of knowledge and in material or virtual spaces. In this context, classification systems can become frontier objects if their use leaves room for social negotiation.
