TY - BOOK AU - Gourbin,Patrice TI - Changes and continuity. Rebuilding a village in the Plain of Caen after the Second World War. Tilly-la-Campagne (Calvados) PY - 2024///. N1 - 89 N2 - Tilly-la-Campagne, a small village typical of the Plain of Caen, was entirely destroyed in 1944 during the Battle of Normandy. The goal of this paper is to measure the extent of the transformation stemming from its reconstruction, with regard both to the architectural and spatial project the State demanded as the client, and to the life projects of the inhabitants. Consequently, we combined architectural questions (forms, programs, materials) with social indicators linked to them (occupations, landed property, family structure, lineage strategies). What this study shows is a landscape of improvement rather than revolution. External appearances were modified, and the buildings became better adapted to modern times, but continuity prevailed when it came to occupation and family strategies UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-histoire-et-societes-rurales-2024-1-page-137?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
