Volunteer Patient Support in an Emergency Ward: The First Year

<br/><br/> A team of volunteers has been active for one year to accompany patients through the emergency room of Saint Joseph hospital in Paris. This was a request by both the medical and nursing hierarchy. In this paper, we outline this project, explain the choice of volunteers to accompany patients through the emergency room and give examples of cases to illustrate the utility of this type of assistance.
