N2  - On the basis of a non-exhaustive review of the literature and based on our own clinical experience, our analysis focuses on the emergence of shame among alcoholic migrant patients during and after withdrawal treatment. Our communication consists of four parts. We first put forward some brief psychopathological observations in regard to alcohol problems among the immigrant population in France. We then describe the characteristics of shame and its link with alcoholism. In a third part we present some information on the way in which migrants are welcomed into our alcoholic care department. Finally, we put forward some thoughts about shame based on clinical examples as well as the importance of acknowledging its impact during psychological aftercare
