Respiratory introjection and projection. Fifty years of development related to the thinking of Melanie Klein - 2015.

7

This article reflects on the importance, for the psychic life, of the respiratory projection and introjection phenomenon as a support for evacuation and projective identification. At first, the specificities of the psychoanalytical technique of play and interpretation, according to Melanie Klein, are revisited. Then, the mother/child relationship is described through certain fundamental concepts of Kleinian theory, such as weaning and the feeding experience. Finally, the psychoanalytic work with a boy of less than three years old, supervised by Klein, illustrates the central function of respiratory introjection within transference and the psychic growth process.
