Metaphysics, the last word of Cartesian morality? Descartes and internal emotions
- 2014.

On the basis of three indecisions threatening the concept of “internal emotion of the soul” (§ 1), we describe here the topical situations where it is deployed (§ 2) and we bring to light the passivity of the soul it supposes (§ 3). Insofar as internal emotions signify the irreducibility of the affectivity to somatic causality, their two favored objects seem to be the supreme beings of Cartesian metaphysics, namely the ego and God (§ 4), to the point that morality here replays metaphysics—and metaphysics is the last word of the Cartesian morality (§ 5).
