N2  - The idea of a “digital revolution” is often bandied about in the manufacturing industry, that is, an overhaul of our model of human labor, whereby the workforce will be subordinated to artificial intelligence and automation. It seems unwise to announce such prophecies before we have gained a better understanding of actual work activities. In terms of clearly defined situations, what would digitization threaten: Actual activities or employment? And based on what objectives, what societal needs, and what definitions?
