N2  - In 1998, TV station France 2 installed a News Ombudsman in charge of establishing various forms of regulation between the editorial staff and the public. This article analyzes how, in the weekly program L'Hebdo du Médiateur (the public facet of this mediation), the relationship is built up between the different actors. It emphasizes the Ombudsman's role and various positions in the interaction, enhancing what, in the ombudsman's discourse, reveals the real roles he/she is playing
