When Erasing becomes (Self) Deceptive: Analyzing a Metalinguistic Activity - 2006.

46

From a linguistic-discursive point of view, we discuss relations between metalinguistic operations and the erasures produced by a pair of students writing a story in primary school. Adopting a conception of structure based on the notion of ' Lalangue' (Milner, 1987) and on the speaker, we will analyze the production of an 'equivocal erasure' produced by these Brazilian pupils as they write. Our discussion presents metalinguistic ability as an effect of the language ( 'la langue') on itself, while the 'correction' and meaning produced by the subject take on an imaginary character.
