Gumperz dans les études sur le rôle du pouvoir dans la communication institutionnelle. En particulier il se centre sur l’usage de stratégies technopolitiques dans la domination interactionnelle. On explore comment l’intérêt de Gumperz pour le discours institutionnel a préparé le terrain à l’étude de la métapragmatique, c’est-à-dire le sens social implicite porté par la parole; Using ethnographic evidence from Italian criminal trials, this paper discusses John J. Gumperz’s legacy in the study of the role of power in institutional communication. In particular, it focuses on the use of techno-political devices for interactional dominance.
