<br/><br/> Rediscovering the meaning of Confession as the fourth sacrament presupposes a new equilibrium between “gift” and “work”. By situating this sacrament within Christian initiation, recent tradition has lost the secret of this equilibrium. Our research is trying to provide criteria for recovering this lost dimension, which attributes to the fourth sacrament the delicate role of a “response to the gift of forgiveness”.
