<br/><br/> This article examines the function Peace in the thought and political action of Robert Schuman during the different phases of his life. As an ideal and necessity, Peace was his major preoccupation. According to him, it goes along with international cooperation, and particularly with the construction of a united Europe, which is not an end in itself but rather a means to guarantee Peace.
