<br/><br/> In this article, the author briefly relates the life of great Israeli historian Zeev Sternhell, who passed away in spring 2020. He sees in his trajectory of a historian bound to France as well as in his civic commitments an epitome of the “heretical Jew”, who upsets conventional thoughts and enables to improve our common knowledge.
