The Fairtrade System: A Guarantee for Consumers?

<br/><br/> The Fairtrade system of certification, which accounts for the great majority of Fairtrade sales, rests essentially on the activities of the international foundation: FLO eV, responsible for setting the Fairtrade standards, and FLO-Cert, responsible for verifying producer and trader compliance with these standards. This article shows that this system is only a partial solution to the two distinct forms of uncertainty faced by consumers of Fairtrade products.
