<br/><br/> Retirement is approached as revealing of a number of latent stakes bound to work and to employment. These stakes will be developed around the following axes: organization of the temporality, the support of an object of stable investment, narcissistic support in terms of evaluation and identity, the support of social and friendly links, the regulation of life as a couple and family life. These various functions are associated with the issue of the modification of financial resources upon retirement. These axes are all more or less closely intertwined. Thus, work is thought of as a factor of psychic compensation. The loss of work can contribute to a decompensation of the subject, since he has to carry on his own account what he had delegated to the professional framework, laying down his fears concerning narcissism and investment there.
