An ethics of arms manufacturing? The contemporary trap of moral complacency
- 2021.

If the Church has always supported the legitimate defence and the integration of the faithful within the armies, it has never justified the production of weapons, and even less the race to perfect weaponry, especially in a world in the grip of technicism. This article on the ethics of arms production puts the Church’s doctrine into perspective regarding the risk of contemporary immoralism for the twenty-first century Christian. It echoes the recent encyclical in which Pope Francis invites men of good will not to be “disturbed by being called naive for having chosen peace” (Fratelli tutti 261).
