School and intermediate spaces: Third-party function and discussion groups in a French school in Brazil
- 2021.

This article analyzes the work carried out with adolescents in a French school in Brazil, between the second round of the 2018 presidential election and the arrival of the pandemic in Brazil, through the establishment of discussion groups. We seek to understand how the political, social, and subjective dimensions of a crisis can be considered by adolescents, through the bond with the institution, by opening up a space for bringing into play the third-party function and investing in intermediary spaces, presenting an opportunity to position oneself and to act. They can become engines of transformation, provided that the educational institution can accommodate the conflictuality specific to adolescence and institutional life. School is seen as a place where the desire to live and to learn about oneself and for oneself is played out through the consideration of adolescents’ voices.
