The sportsman, the politician, and the media. Vikash Dhorasoo, a cleft habitus caught in the logic of fields - 2023.

The former footballer Vikash Dhorasoo is a media figure who is in many ways elusive. Despite a sporting career that ranked him among the best players of his generation, he has always been the object of relative marginality because of his public statements that break with the injunction to be apolitical in the field of sport and the tacit rules that structure it. However, this did not prevent him from accumulating a certain amount of media capital which he then used to convert in different spaces, not without contradiction, including the political field. This article proposes to analyse this trajectory in order to show that the singularity of Vikash Dhorasoo’s case is the result of the intertwining of a cleaved habitus, forged by a socialisation at the crossroads of different fields (sport, art, journalism and politics) during and after his career, The aim is not only to highlight what this trajectory reveals about the respective implicit norms of the sports and political fields, and their boundaries, but also about the calls to order that their transgression provokes.
