How to appropriate that which has been secretly transmitted to us? Based on this question and on a clinical case study, the authors examined the work of subjectivation as a function of the manner in which the transmission of family secrets is experienced and represented by the subject. Within the framework of psychotherapy, the pervasive presence of the affects and representations which are associated with family secrets testify, inter alia, to the subjective constructions and re-constructions that may provide he or she who creates them with the possibility to restore and replace in their own history the scenes of narratives that are stored in silence.
