Natural death and violent death: Are these fundamental legal categories philosophically based? Is death, violent by nature, not somehow always natural? Does the sudden emergence of the concept of non- motivated death bring some clarity to the debate? This reflection is needed in a society that makes the denial of aging and death one of the foundations of its culture, at a time when deadly violence—such as recent massacres— occupies the front of the media scene.
