N2  - After providing a definition of mysticism and philosophy, this article considers the relationship between philosophy and mysticism from several angles : either philosophy results in an experience some would call “mystical”—this being true of Plotinus (I)—, or philosophy is integrated into the rise of Mystic Theology (Pseudo-Denys) (II), or it is “informed” by mysticism (Bergson) (III), or it serves as a point of comparison in comparative mysticism, especially in Indian mysticism (Maritain, Lacombe, Gardet, Monchanin) (IV). These debates took place mainly in France in the twentieth century
