Burkina Faso in the Ivorian crisis - 2003.

Presented at its onset as an “Ivorian” affair, the war in Côte d’Ivoire has become a regional crisis, being marked by the increasing participation of neighboring countries. Burkina Faso has a central place in this imbroglio. This article attempts to clarify the responsibility of the Burkina Faso government in the crisis and evaluates the boomerang effects on the political situation in the “country of honest men.” The authors show that the conflict has significant windfall effects for President Compaoré.
