<br/><br/> With the widespread use of mobile phones and mobile internet, digital technology is attracting renewed interest on the African continent. A growing number of international actors are proposing to use the mobile phone as a key tool for addressing public health issues in Africa. Based on the analysis of the “mobile health wallet” of the world’s most famous mobile money platform, M-PESA, this article examines the ins and outs of implementing market- and digital-based universal health coverage in Kenya.
