The Comprehensive School: A typical example of the difficulty in governing education

The article aims to determine to what extent the analysis of the difficult management of educational policies may help identify the hurdles on the way to a real democratization of educational achievements. A few examples taken from the history of comprehensive schools highlight major hurdles and show that the comprehensive school may be used as a sort of magnifying glass of the successes as well as the difficulties of school management.
