War and the Economy: Liberalism and the Market Economy Thesis - 2003.

6

The “peaceful market economy” thesis seems to be a “well-known” political idea. It is supposed to have been strongly put forward by liberal authors during the 18th century. But most of these authors only mention the thesis very briefly, and with very few arguments. The few authors who study the thesis more at length tend, on the other hand, to be much more sceptical about its validity. In every respect, the “peaceful market economy” thesis seems untraceable.
