<br/><br/> Faced with Pakistan and, especially, China, the Indian navy has ambition, but has only modest assets and a modernization program that has been suspended due to technical difficulties. New Delhi wants to be in a position to keep watch over its maritime areas and also to counter the increasing influence of Beijing whilst preserving its strategic interests.
