What Men Who Do the Grocery Shopping Give!
- 2012.

Observing what is given, received, and returned while grocery shopping is an opportunity to analyze the process of construction/deconstruction of gender identities. This article argues that “doing the errands” is not only a chore, as they are an occasion for women of a household gift, allowing a certain recognition. Men are increasingly involved in this household activity, yet they protect themselves from too important a feminization by setting up various strategies (acting out of delegation, indulging in certain pleasures, or acting managerial...) which are detailed here. The question is whether these different modes of participation must be deconstructed or if they constitute new specifically masculine ways to “give.”
