<br/><br/> Many theorists of recognition move from the identification of an expectation of recognition to an ideal of equal recognition. This article's intent is to question whether equal recognition can be a pertinent normative ideal for all forms of recognition. Merely being judged as equal with others is insulting to someone asking to have their actions and identity recognized as special.
