FROM DOMINATION TO ACTION Gender in the use of information technologies Based on an analysis of the Sociological Abstracts, this article proposes a critical panorama of the literature on gender and new information and communication technologies since the 1980s. Essentially a detailed inventory of the North American literature, it reports on the different topics addressed as well as the methodologies and findings of these studies. In the second part the article situates work on ICT and gender in the broader context of feminist studies and science and technology studies. The author then discusses the theoretical and political import of Donna Haraway's view of 'techno-opportunism'?.
