<br/><br/> — The Powers of the new French Protection of Rights Body (le Défenseur des droits) — When one analyses the powers of the new French Protection of Rights Body, one realises that they were not specially conceived to fit its structure as a single authority. The powers linked to its role as a “Mediator with the Public Services” have been deliberately strengthened while retaining some of the specific competences of each of its merged entities. This has resulted in a patchwork of prerogatives which more or less correspond to the diverse and heterogeneous character of its own tasks.
