The French Court of Auditors and local and regional audit offices have numerous responsibilities for ensuring compliance with financial and accounting regulations and for evaluating public policies. They have now reorganised their operational procedures. In a context of tight budgetary constraint, the objective is to be more responsive to the needs of individuals and to assist public authorities at their behest.
