<br/><br/> The author proposes his own conception of what he terms ??original?? narcissism. The latter consists in a result of drive deflection by the primary object during the period of primary homosexuality. Original narcissism, in so far as it constitutes a pivotal organisation in the work of subjectivisation, should, according to the author, be considered a form of signified self-organisation that is inclined to function as a signifying auto-organisation. ??Original?? in this sense should thus not be understood as ??first??, but rather as a representative resumption of what has already been. Narcissism is primary precisely in so far as it comes second. The latter thus retroactively signifies the emergence of the primary, and is supported by the mediation of the primary narcissistic object, that is to say, the mediation of the ??other-same?? object.
