N2  - The analyst’s pregnancy causes a disturbance in the analytic process, insofar as it represents an element of reality that shakes up the setting. Nevertheless, it generates some transferential movements that are remarkably intense and rich. Through the analyst’s body, the play of identifications mobilises a reactivation of archaic experiences and oedipal conflicts, or in extreme cases, foeticidal wishes. As the analyst’s body changes, this transformation is accompanied for the patient by fantasies around his analyst’s sexuality or death. Through the transference and countertransference dynamics, the analyst’s pregnancy thus brings out some completely new material, accompanied by aggressive and defensive movements against it
