<br/><br/> The failure of the dream-work and startled nighttime awakenings in a patient with a traumatic past and severe psoriasis are considered here in light of her psychosomatic economy. The Ferenczian notions of primary and secondary dreams and the concept of the traumatolytic function of dreams are used to understand the patient’s recurring nightmare.
