The pain of not thinking
- 2023.
88
Taking up Freud’s considerations in the Project (1895-1896),and Inhibition, symptom and anxiety (1926), the author links them to the question of unconscious perceptions and that of affect, by taking the example of a vignette where the patient with an operative thinking suffered from neuropathic pain in a context of fear of abandonment of her husband. The resolution of the patient’s pain will come from the assurance of her husband not to leave her, but, above all, will reveal her husband’s identification with the pain of his wife who, through the play of unconscious perceptions, allowed him to lift repressions on his own childhood sexual trauma.
