<br/><br/> The maternal function is constructed as a legacy of the disappearance of an imaginary primordial state: the maternal. This function is an internal capacity constitutive of every psyche. Drawing on the visit to Anish?Kapoor's sculpture, Leviathan, the author considers two capacities of the maternal function -?the differentiation of psychic spaces and the opening towards the unknown.
