To the two "founding and deadly" aspects of murder described by Chervet, the author suggests adding a third "the struggle unto death". The concept of "struggle unto death" is borrowed from Hegel. The hypothesis put forward is that in the "cathexis-identification" dialectic, the outcome of a "struggle unto death" at the pole of identification conditions the outcome of an essential "recognition" at the pole of cathexis. This hypothesis is based on a reading of the "subjective unbinding fantasy" described by Green.
