On the Principle of Payment for Missed Sessions: the Sense of Damaged Access to a Symbolic Position
- 2013.

Based on some clinical sequences that illustrate a female patient's difficulties in adjusting to the rule of payment for missed sessions, the author, following a verbal slip she makes in the countertransference, seeks to describe the gradual progression towards a more subjective position, using the elaboration of the symbolic dimension of the financial relationship as one of the vectors of the process. She traces her patient's development along a line starting from the damage that is always too costly, initially expressed in the transference by acted-out re-enactment, towards the access to a symbolic position signified by the "principle of leasing a definite hour" (Freud, 1913, p. 126).
