Through a clinical experience in which the circulation of sadistic fantasies leads to a psychophobic stagnation in the treatment, the author suggests that if moral masochism is based on the flaws of the relationship to the primary object, disturbing the construction of au-to-eroticisms, the hate inherent in the construction of the ego tends to mobilize a sadism aimed at providing a solution to the primary traumas. Such sadism is active, is it not, in the “constitu-tional reasons” invoked by Freud “in such children” which give rise to the anal-sadistic regres-sion necessary for the construction of the fantasy “A child is being beaten?”
