The Repressing Agency, Precursor and Constituent of the Unconscious Ego

The concept of a repressing agency is directly broached by Freud in Delusions and Dreams in Jensen’s ‘Gradiva’ (1907). Treating abitrarily as autonomous the processes of repression and of the repressing agency, enacted within what would become in Freudian thought the unconscious ego, this text offers reflections on the relationship of the repressing process with the anti-cathexis and the preconscious work.
