Jacques Lacan and the theory of interpretation
- 2018.

Lacan adhered enthusiastically to Claude Lévi-Strauss’s project of building a structural theory common to anthropology, linguistics and psychoanalysis. In this way, he hoped to discover a new theory that would justify his practice of short sessions and punctuation. In reality, the importation of the concepts of linguistics into psychoanalysis faced him with considerable difficulties. But overcoming these contradictions led him to a new understanding of the role of words in interpretation which is fruitful for all psychoanalysts.
