<br/><br/> The author highlights M. Bouvet’s notion of distance from the object, making use of it in relation to J.-Y. Tamet’s case of “Mrs S.” and a fragment from her own clinical practice. She proposes connections with A. Green’s approach to the affective process and the detour via the object, as well as with M. de M’Uzan’s approach to the continuum of the capacity for metaphorization. The article also discusses the need to take into consideration the human dimension in the definition of the psychoanalytic method.
