TY - BOOK AU - Durand,Mickaël TI - From Mitterrand to marriage for all PY - 2024///. N1 - 58 N2 - Based on in-depth semi-structured interviews with 90 individuals identifying as gay and lesbian, this article looks at the role of the Left’s rise to power in 1981 and the issue of “Marriage for All” in the political socialization of homosexual individuals. This article argues that understanding this process requires a concomitant investigation into the role of sexual identity. Thus, although an individual’s place of residence and their value system necessarily modulate the politicizing effects of the Left’s rise to power and the advent of “Marriage for All,” it is essential to consider the feeling of belonging to the gay and lesbian community if we wish to understand the impact of these two events on the political socialization of homosexual people in France. This article suggests that individuals’ relationship to their minority characteristic(s) is necessary to understand event-based political socialization in the case of minority groups UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-revue-francaise-de-science-politique-2023-4-5-page-685?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
