N1 - 3 N2 - The article examines the views of white indigenous mothers of mixed couples living in Italy on the discrimination experienced by their children and the strategies they use to cope with it. Little is known about the parental experience of discrimination related to the origin and skin colour of children of mixed couples in Italy. However, this issue represents an important challenge for parenthood in the process of social inclusion of children in a postcolonial context. A research conducted in Northern Italy among Italian and Sub-Saharan African parents, has shown the role of awareness of ethnic and melanic diversity that these mothers play in the relationship with their children.
