N2  - French foreign policy has not derogated from Nicolas Sarkozy’s diplomacy of “rupture.” The French president implemented a new style, more direct and vigorous, which is not to be underestimated. Indeed, personal relationships between heads of state are crucial in foreign policy. We will have to wait for several years to be able to analyze his foreign policy and evaluate the ratio of rupture to continuity. Moreover, the weight of our strategic interests and commitments does not permit a total change, but rather small adjustments. However, we can analyze the four principal themes on which the head of state took many initiatives: Europe, the Mediterranean, transatlantic relations, and links between Africa and France
